An exhibition of works by Valentin Serov at the Tretyakov Gallery

December 23, participants of the International club "Business Partnership" visited an exhibition of works by Valentin Serov (1865-1911), one of the most popular Russian artists, the largest and a key figure of his time.

The exhibition, which takes place at the Tretyakov Gallery, is unique for the number of collected pictures and documents: there are placed 250 works from 25 Russian museums, 4 museums in foreign countries and private collections on three floors of the building.

Some works have been demonstrated in our country for the first time. Among them there are a Portrait of Alexander III from the collection of the Royal Foundation Officer of the Life Guards (Copenhagen, Denmark), a Portrait of M.N. Akimova from the National Gallery of Armenia (Yerevan), a Portrait of M.Ya. Livova from the collection of the Musée d'Orsay (Paris, France).

Also, for the first time after Serov posthumous exhibition held in Moscow in 1914, the exhibition presents 17 photographs of the memorial.

The sensation was a show of a grand curtain for the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov's ballet "Scheherazade", given for the "Russian Seasons" by Sergei Diaghilev.

Members of the club accompanied by a guide visited the exhibition with great interest, showing the best works of masters, those brilliant paintings and graphic works, thanks to which the artist has gained world love – from the grand person and artistic elite of his time, from the adherents of the realist tradition and connoisseurs of the avant-garde.
