Between Renaissance and Mannerism

April 1, participants of the International Club "Business Partnership" visited an exhibition "Family Cranach. Between the Renaissance and Mannerism" at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.

For the first time in Russia, the large-scale exhibition (more than forty paintings and more than fifty graphic works) has brought together works by Lucas Cranach the Elder and Lucas Cranach the Younger from the collections of museums in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Berlin, Kassel, Goths, Madrid, Budapest and several Russian private collections.

Cranach Creativity is special by its innovation ideas for composition, color, and most interpretations of the images. Those ideas had a great influence on the art of the Northern Renaissance and, later, marked the final transition from the artistic ideals of the Renaissance to Mannerism.

The main feature of the exhibition became famous creations of Lucas Cranach the Elder: "Madonna and Child", "The Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine of Alexandria with Saints Dorothy, Margaret and Barbara", "Venus and Cupid", "Fruits of jealousy. Silver Age","Judith beheads Holofernes" and many other paintings, reflecting the philosophy of life and art of the Middle Ages.
